On August 12, an agreement between the University of Colorado Denver and the Ecologic Institute of Berlin formalized the start of a new semester-long program of applied research: Sustainability in Berlin. How did you originally hear about the Semester in Beijing Program, and what made you pursue this study abroad program?

I had wanted to study abroad in China for a very long time, and when I saw the University of Colorado Denver Semester in Beijing program, I took a leap.  The scholarship opportunities offered in the program were another major reason why I chose it. I had looked into other programs, but the cost of this one compared to the others was significantly more economic for me.  This program had the combination of what I had already wanted to do and the opportunity to do it—that’s why I am in Beijing right now.   Read More

Growing up in Colorado, Stella Yuan experienced not only American culture, but also the cultural influences of her family’s Japanese heritage. Speaking Japanese with her family members was an everyday conversational practice; but she still wished to learn even more about the country, the people, and the complex written system of the language.  To accomplish this, Yuan decided to break free from her comfort zone in Denver, and pursue Japanese linguistic studies in the busy capital city of Tokyo, Japan. Desire to Study Abroad Leads to Graduation Walk in China

Semester in Beijing program leads Denver student to graduation ceremonies at ICB

A desire to learn about—and in—a completely different culture led Nancy Tran from her home in Denver to her graduation walk on the ceremonial stage at International College Beijing, China. Kelsey Evans – The Journal of an American Student in Beijing
